My Father was a prisoner in Stalag VIIIB his prisoner number was266615 I have two work camp numbers E586 and E579. He was in the Grenadier Guards army No 2613234 He was also on the Lamsdorf March, sadly he died in 1987. I still have letters that he wrote to my Mother during his capture. He was like many I suppose and never spoke of his experiences. I know this is a long shot but if anyone out there knows of any other members of G Guards or any info would be great.

My Dad Sapper James Robert Baxter (Jim) was a POW in Stalag 344 for 5 years. He was captured at Dunkirk at the beginning of the War with his friend Dick Holmes' He was in the Royal Engineers and grew up in Irnham near Grantham Lincolnshire. Sadly he died in 1982 aged 67 of a burst appendix.

Hello there, have posted on here before but my e mail has now changed. My dad was taken prison in May 1940 in Fampoux Northern France. He was with the Wiltshires and went over in 1939 as part of the B.E. F. Dad was injured when captured, and he like thoudands of others were marched and herded on to cattle trucks as they were sent to lamsdorf V11B. He was sent to a few other camps, one being Teschen, where he worked doen the mines. The things that stick in my mind were how he told me of the severe weather they had to endure and the lack of food. If anyone knew my dad or had a relative who was in the same area at any time i'd love to hear from youu. sadley dad passed away in November 2004, leaving us heartbroken, his name was Vic Somers.

Linda Frost says...
My father, Jack Futter, who was in the Wiltshire Regiment and previously in the Queens Royal Regiment and Royal Berkshire Regiment was in Stalag 344 in 1944/45 and we have some documents which I wondered whether you might be interested in:

His discharge certificate dated 11.04.45
A letter written home from the POW camp
A copy of a Bescheinigung
A newspaper photo of himself and another soldier who had been repatriated
A booklet with names, addresses and some POW numbers of the men who were in the same camp as he was.

My father died in April 2006. These documents are very precious to us but it may be that they hold information which may be important or of interest to others.

We are also trying to piece together any informtion we can.
